The third Youth Olympic Games run from 6–18 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Up to 90 New Zealand athletes will be selected to compete in the games that mirror the full Olympic Games but also carry a spirit of culture and education.
The Youth Olympic Games will also feature a slightly different sporting programme than the full games. New sports being showcased include BMX freestyle, kitesurfing, cross country running, beach handball, climbing, and breakdancing and roller sports. Futsal will also replace football.
