Hutt International Boys’ School (HIBS) have become the first Wellington school in 14 years and only the second all-time to win the National Secondary Schools’ cricket championship. HIBS won the title at Lincoln in Christchurch on a superior run-rate from Westlake BHS who beat HIBS on Wednesday. It was a low scoring tourney with only one century made, Mitchell Murray made two by himself last year. HIBS all-round bowling attack and ability to restrict their opposition was vital.
