Motueka High School’s Girls Sevens team continues to play well, winning last week’s 2017 South Island Secondary School Rugby 7s tournament in Timaru. Motueka, who made the Cup semi-finals at last December’s National Condor Sevens tournament in Auckland, beat Christchurch Girls’ High School 19-5 in the final. Their other wins were against Waitaki Girls’ High School (54-0), Otago Girls’ High School (40-5) and Christchurch GHS again, (22-12). Final placings were: 1 st – Motueka High School 2nd – Christchurch Girls’ High School 3rd – Southland Girls’ High School 4th – Columba College 5th (winners of the Plate) St Margaret’s College 6th Otago Girls’ High School 7th – Waitaki Girls’ High School 8th – Roncalli College St Andrew’s College won the Boys section, with St Thomas’ second and Christchurch Boys’ High School second.
