The Sport and Rugby Institute at Massey University hosted the Sir Gordon Tietjens 7's over the last couple of days. Although the teams are predominately from the central North Island, there are a handful of top teams from other regions attending the event. The most notable performance from this event, is the continued raise of St Mary's College (Wellington). After winning Division 2 (10's) in 2015, they progressed to Wellington 7's Champions, won the bowl at Condors, then today claimed their first significant trophy against the big names in girls 7's in NZ. Feilding and Hamilton Girls' are significant leaders in the girls game in NZ, but it is exciting to see a relative new comer gaining top results. It will be great watching this squad and coaching team throughout the year.
