1. Mount Albert Grammar School’s First XI Girls Football team made it three in a row when they won the APC Knockout Cup last Wednesday, beating Saint Kentigern College 5-0. The team also won the trophy in 2014 and 2015. In July this year they won the Auckland League for the eighth year in a row when they beat Long Bay College 2-0. The girls are now preparing to defend their New Zealand title at the National Tournament in September. They have won the NZSS championship for the past three years. Photo Credit: http://www.mags.school.nz/

3. The Stratford High School 1st XV, officially known as Central,  won the Taranaki secondary school Premier A competition on Saturday with a strong 31-18 victory over Hawera High School 1st XV. Played at Yarrow Stadium on a very balmy and still afternoon, the game was neck and neck with the scores at 19-18 with 10 minutes to play. Central scored twice within that time to secure the title in front of a very healthy crowd.  The side was unbeaten in 2016 with one draw and finished the regular season on the top of the table. Tomorrow they play St Peter's School in the Chiefs region Co-ed Cup final, winner to play in Top 4 in Palmerston North on 2-4 September. 6. Palmerston North Girls’ High School’s Mya Rasmussen has broken yet another New Zealand age group record – this time as a 16-year-old. At the Wellington short course meet at the Kilbirnie Aquatic Centre recently, Mya beat the existing record for the 200m individual medley in a time of 4:39.95, which was held by Helen Norfolk of Canterbury since February 1998 Rasmussen personally won eight gold, four silver and one bronze, a total of 13 medals from 13 swims, as well as her New Zealand record in the final session. She also broke four Manawatu records, all of which she already held and she is setting the bar ever higher for those to follow.
