Hamilton Boys’ High School recently retained their NZSS Wrestling title, with the team winning several medals. These included: Ryan Marshall - gold 69kg Junior; Rickson Hill - gold 85kg Senior; Raymond Hill - silver 69kg Senior; Tama Manuirirangi - silver 63kg Junior; Sebastian Diedricks - bronze 75kg Senior; Simeon Hennebert - bronze 85kg Senior Thomas Sexton - bronze 69kg Junior; Jaden Luppers - bronze 63kg Junior. Wednesday night novice Otago Secondary Schools curling is underway. The SISS Curling Championships are in Naseby from 2-4 September, the NISS Curling Championships are in Auckland at the end of August and the NZSS Curling Championships are in Dunedin from 24-26 September. Over 340 runners took part at last week’s Waikato/Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Cross-Country Champs, also in Rotorua. To raise money for Syrian refugee camps as part of World Vision's 40 hour famine, Nelson College for Girls speed skater Xan Twissell recently skated for 24 hours straight and covered approximately 280 kilometres. She began her long journey at Trafalgar Park at 2pm on Saturday, and skated through the night despite plunging temperatures and weary legs. Silverstream won the First XI football 4-1, while Wellington College prevailed 96-76 in the basketball and also won the First XV rugby 29-26.
