17-year-old kayaker Ethan Moore is aiming for a spot in the Olympics and to become a professional. Olympic and world champ Lisa Carrington has shown what can be achieved and Ethan is prepared to make sacrifices to reach the top. A halfback for the St Bernard's College first fifteen, he has decided he will give all his attention to paddling in 2016. "Rugby has been a big part of my life but I have to bite the bullet and really sort out what I want to do." Next week he is off to the Oceania Championship in Adelaide as part of the New Zealand Under 18 Development Team, competing over 200m and 500m in a team he predicts will do well.
